There's one thing that is quickly becoming one of the staple activities of playing GT6 online with fellow Opponauts — taking cars used in various Best Motoring comparison tests and performing ~5-lap battles with vehicle tuning prohibited.
This post is to help execute this activity a little more efficiently. I propose that those of us who are interested in doing Best Motoring style comparison tests begin compiling here the numerous tests that have taken place. That way we can enjoy our short weekend time together as best as possible every time.
The criteria:
1. Begin by briefly introducing what cars are present in the comparison test.
2. Follow up with the video(s) in your comment.
3. Write if the cars were sent out to qualify for positions or not. Add on what the grid positions were.
4. Write how many laps there were and at what track. If the tests did not happen at a track available in GT6, a substitute track will be determined at the time of when the comparison test is chosen to be replicated.
5. Follow up with a screenshot of the race results and any possible relevant information shown (aka Time Attack and/or Best Lap info)
Allow me to set the stage...
In the second video is the actual race. The BMW M5 is being compared against an early gen Porsche 997, an M3 CSL, an early gen Gallardo, and a Nismo Z-Tune serving as the camera car.
It's important to note that the cars were not sent out to the track to qualify for their positions, however did perform a time attack (but were not filmed during the time attacks). They were positioned as follows on the grid: BMW M5, Porsche 997, BMW M3 CSL, Lamborghini Gallardo, and Nismo GT-R Z-Tune.
This was a 3-lap battle at Sugo. Screenshot for race results:
I understand that there are no Porsches or a Z-Tune in GT6, as well as sometimes the model year or model with the right performance figures are not available. However, I strongly feel if voted upon, an RUF may be substituted or car of equivalent replacement in place of the Porsche. Also, if I have been informed correctly, the Nismo R34 Pace car is a Z-Tune.
All of the comparison tests will be performed with vehicle tuning prohibited and on sports performance tires.
Let me know what you think of this and leave your feedback! I have been having so much fun playing with you guys. Add yourself to the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! if you haven't already. Feel free to add me...my PSN is blunion05.
This is a scheduled post, so I'll probably forget I even made this post until I get on to see I have some notifications about it.

Unrelated to post, but Kinja has no messaging system: Do you play with a wheel?

Because yours is almost always the fastest line I have to look at in the seasonal events. I like to tell myself it's because you're using a $50,000 racing cockpit setup. And I'm using my dualshock because I have nowhere to mount my wheel. Turns out, it's just because I'm bad at racing.

Oh...it just takes practice. I just set a few slow and calm clean laps first. Then comes time attack mode. It took me 1 1/2 hours to get gold on the first M4 Seasonal event before I started to utilize a proper strategy. I don't really mean to set such quick lap times either when I look at the friends ranking. The moment I get gold is the moment I'm done, hahaha. A friend of mine also says I always have the quickest lap time, but I'll tell you what I told him, I'm not really that quick, there's some guys here that are quicker than me in the seasonal events. I don't even turn off traction control for the seasonal events or adjust any settings that aren't default. Just there to get my gold and back to playing online.

Yeah, there are some guys that clearly have it down. I've loaded those ghosts before. I couldn't believe some of the Honda Fit seasonal event times. I haven't played for an hour straight yet (I get headaches if certain conditions don't all align) and I know that's the reason I've not done too well. I've played GT6 maybe 8-10 hours total so far. That M4 is impossible to drive, I decided. Especially on that layout.
I should probably try a couple laps with traction control or something. I've not used any assists except ABS since GT4. Mostly, I just need to sit down and get it right. And find a way to mount my wheel, cause I can't really play any games well with the dualshock.

I hear ya. for some a wheel is better! I agree about the M4. I don't find it fun to drive, it seems like it's got a certain amount of understeer built in to it and I hate it. I want a turn-in that doesn't feel front heavy...

Yeah, it feels super unbalanced. I'll stick to my standard E46 CSL, thank you very much. I like the new FT-1 though. It feels really nice. Don't look at my bronze time, though, as I had about 10 minutes to get used to it and it's a little slidey around Laguna.

haha slidey? I didn't think so...probably because I make a lot of cars understeer (read excessive speed into turns). It definitely does slip out at a nice angle when I make it.

It seemed pretty tail happy to me. But I tend to get on the power slightly too early in corners. Have to learn how to straighten out first. For example, I always nail the corkscrew, but the following two turns are tricky for me.

If I am in a rear happy car I usually do bursts of full throttle to finish up a corner proper quick. Depending on the gear ratios, if I can bounce off the rev limiter at exiting out of the turn or stay close to the rev limiter, I go full throttle and typically the tail slides out exactly enough to be pointed in the right direction.

What?? How? Are you some sort of expert drifter... If I push that control stick to 75%+, it gets real sketchy real quick.

I suck at drifting and try to refrain from it...mostly because the few cars I like to drive aren't the type to be drifted (aka S2000 and Huayra)

yeah it's so much fun. I want to show Satoshi how quick I am with it around Tsukuba. I can get the thing to do 50 second laps with 1234hp on tap hahaha

This seems complicated, but okay. Post things about the Battle, then do the battle online, basically?

Yeah! The reason I did this is so we aren't stuck searching for Best Motoring comparison tests and have them gathered up here all in one place so we can choose ones we like.

This is awesome! There are a few super-compact cars in GT6, I'll find them up and note them in a bit.
